I don’t think it would work with the more traditional OP screw-in bars either. If the thinness of the NATO doesn’t match the presence of the watch, a ZULU style strap might be an option. ZULUs are generally a little thicker and the hardware, e.g. rings make the whole strap bigger all the way around.
